Drivers door won't lock and lights stay on
Hello,
I am hoping the braintrust here can help me out. Althought I am mechanical I am by no means a Auto mechanic!
My sons Cherokee (2000) is having some electrical issues. His interior lights are on all the time and its not because the light dimmer is pushed all the way up nor is a door open.
Also when we use the FOB to lock the truck the horn beeps once and the drivers door locks (with the other doors) but then it unlocks.
I have looked at the fuses but cannot seem to find a failure. Any help would greatly appriciated.

Sounds like the door ajar switch is not functioning. I'm not certain, but I think it's part of the door latch. The lights stay on because it thinks the door is still open. Don't know how that would affect the door locking function, unless it's also the latch causing the problem.

Im looking at it now and it gets better. The wiring looks healthy (visually) but there is something more wrong. The drivers door control panel (windows up, down, lock and unlock lock door) buttons are not functioning either. Could it be that the controller board in the door went bad?

Update...
I just re-pulled the boot away from the door that carries the wires and I see at least 1 wire (think black) that is severed in half! I guess I have to look more into this as this is most likey the issue.

Fixed! Thanks guys.
It was the wire that I previously stated that was severed in the door boot. I mended the connection and its all good, doors lock and unlock and the window controls work again.
