Default Drivers speaker not working

So ever since I got my Cherokee the driver side door speaker has not worked. I just figured it's a bad speaker, but then I heard that it is a common thing for the speaker wires to go bad on Cherokees. Is there any truth to this? And if you had the same problem, how did you go about fixing it? Thanks.

My Cherokee has the same problem, ever since I bought it the drivers speaker doesn't work. It is common.

If that speaker makes no noise at all than it is a wiring issue. If I am not mistaken, it needs to have new wires put in to the stereo. If your speaker crackles, then it is probably just blown.

Sounds like the usuals short in the door wiring. Mine did the same thing. I just ran new speaker wire from the speaker through the door and into the back of the head unit.

It makes no noise at all, I am putting new speakers in tomorrow, so I'll see if that works. If the new speaker doesn't work, then I'll check the wires in the door jam to see if they are broken. If they are, great, I'll fix it. If not I'll have someone else run the wires for me, I'm not about to do that lol. Did you get yours fixed?

Mine works when it feels like it. Usually when Beyonce comes on. I bought some new door speakers and am going to run them fresh wires off an amplifier.

How hard is running the new wires? And where did you get the wire from?

You can get wiring in most electronic store, even hardware. My local hardware stores including Lowes and Home Depot carry it and my local Radio Shack carries wire too.

Any wire will work. Can even get it at Wal Mart, Best Buy etc. Knukonceptz.com sells nice wire for about as cheap as you will find if you want to really upgrade.

Its pretty easy. I ran the wires from the head unit under the carpet because I didn't feel like pulling everything apart, then up through the plastic molding and out the door with the factory wire. It took about 15 min per side. And as stated any speaker wire will work. I think I got about 30 feet of it at Walmart for about $10. Just remember the thicker the wire the better the sound quality.

if by chance you have to remove the door panels please take pics, post, and let me know how you did it.

Just got back from walmart with a new set of 5 1/4 100watts for the front doors for 24 bucks.

I hate removing door panels and since this is my first xj i'm a little lost. thanks.

I definitely will take some pics, it's not hard, you just have to take your time so you don't bust it all up
