Default Driver's window issue with PO "custom" wiring

So here's what I'm dealing with. My driver's window doesn't go down but all the other windows work fine. When you push the down switch the backlight on the switches goes out and the radio dims, like there's a short. I figured the regulator was shot so I bought a new one.

When I pulled off the door panel I found some custom wiring by the PO. There's a ground wire (red) spliced into the white wire for the connection to the regulator motor. With this wire removed NONE of the windows work. With the wire connected the driver's window goes up but not down (original symptoms).

The PO also had a sound system and added tweeters and door speakers with new wiring. Also looks like it had a security system so there are a lot of splices by the hood release harness.

I'm not sure what to do with this or where the problem lies. I'm not an electric guy.

First page bump.

I ordered a new Driver Door Module and will see if that fixes anything. I pulled the schematics and the connector pin info and will try to figure that all out. Going to also follow the wires in and out to see if there's a bad splice or cut wire. Maybe the DDM isn't being grounded properly anymore.

Also where's the circuit breaker for it? There's a mention of it but it doesn't give a location.

I fixed this but I probably didn't fix the root problem. After reading through a schematic of the DDM and some trouble shooting guide I found a few things out.

There's only one power and ground that run all the windows and they both go into the DDM then out to the windows. So all the windows share the same power and ground through the DDM.

That is probably why all the windows worked except the drivers based on the PO custom wiring. That wire acted as the main ground so all the windows worked but it would short out when trying to use the drivers.

I tried to follow the main ground wire through the door and in the kick panel but I didn't see any splices or anything so I'm not sure where the break happened. I ended up making my own splice near the DDM and grounding it to the door. This fixed it at least so all my windows work.

I'm not sure where that ground ultimately goes and I still didn't see the "self-resetting circuit breaker" for the DDM either.
