Default Driving Lights Installation Questions

Got a pair of driving lights for Xmas. I see the punch outs on the bumper to mount them and I can figure out the wiring. My questions are; How should I get through the firewall? Where should I mount the switch?

i used this plastic cap for wires and cut a slot in the cap for the wire, wher the yellow arrow is and used one of these switch holes for the switch with a little filing it snapped right in,

When possible I try to push wires through existing grommets in the fire wall, like next to a cable or wire harness. Sometimes you can slid the wire in next to a cable through the existing hole or use a thin punch to make a tiny hole in the grommet then push the wire through. Either way you will end up with a nice tight seal around the wire to keep water out.

OK thanks. Now wouldn't I have 3 wires to run in there? Ground, Power, and Lights? Or do I ground the switch inside the cab?

Thanks, that will make one less wire to run out to the engine bay.

You will only need to run 1 wire throught the firewall! Power to the lights, and as freegdr said, ground the lights outside and the switch inside.

Always wire up auxiliary lights with a relay. Much safer and won't blow fuses or burn up wiring.

According to the wiring diagram on the box I will need two wires. A power wire to the switch, and a wire from the lights to the switch. How would the switch open and close the circuit to the lights if it's not connected to the lights?

Yeah but it can't close a circuit to the lights if it's not connected to the lights. The switch has 3 prongs, 1 for ground, 1 for power, and 1 to the lights.

You'll need two wires exiting firewall one to the bat and one to the lights.

You can pick up power from under the dash!
