Ever see a fat blue 500A spark? Doesn't matter what voltage is pushing it - it's impressive!
Maybe I'm just paranoid around electrical work, but it's kept me going this long. I've worked in standup panels that were carrying enough current to render me into a chunky red spray - but I'm still here because I was paranoid. Same reason I'm still here after working with explosives.
Problem I'd have with working in trades anymore is they want me there at the ****-crack of dawn. Are you kidding? I go to bed at 0500! (I keep weird hours. Always have. A relatively recent brain trauma has simply cemented this.)

Volts isn't current, y'know.

but vehicle electrical is a joke... unless your trying to catch your exhaust fumes on fire coming out of your tail pipe... never run a 8 guage wire to the spark plug and all the way to the back of your truck... itll electrify the whole truck cause the insulations around the wire isnt enough... lol... shocked getting in the door.... shocked turning the key to cut it off... spark plug power hurts! lol...
P.S. it was on my 72 chevy pickup and i was like 14 or 15... just learning about vehicles... so dont make fun of me... lol...this is what i looked like when i was done restoring it in 2005... learned everything about vehicles on this truck...

look @ these diagrams for any style of wiring you'd prefer.

I run 2 optima's on my '87/99 MJ. one in stock location, one in the bed. they are run in parallel, to boost power to the winch that I aspire to acquire. also handy for non-running jump starts, and I have mine set up with the second battery isolated with a continuous duty solenoid. this, coupled with a momentary switch allows me to run my battery dry and still jump-start myself if needed.

dads a electrician for a plant in st paul MN somewhere... said they are always showing them videos of people screwing up and killing themselves... said couple months ago guy shut a electrical box and the bar came off the back that locks it and crossed the power and blew up... put him on his butt and then the hosiptal not knowing what was going on with some burns... the bar was never found cause it blew all to pieces... i own a handyman business and any time i mention how i swapped a ceiling fan or something small he freaks out and gives me a safety speal... lol... yet he still managed to grind the ends of his middle and index finger off in a industrial sized paper shreader... lol...
Swapping a ceiling fan is easy. Swapping a light fixture is nothing - I do that all the time (I do some handiwork as well. Mostly at mate's rates, but the money comes in handy.) I consider walking a roofline to be more dangerous than swapping a light fixture - and I do both fairly regularly. It's just a matter of keeping your wits about you, y'know? I move a little slower when I'm working on something than I do normally - but it all comes out ahead, since I don't have to redo the job, either!

just seeing if i have it correct... I want to be able to drain the cheap les shwab battery and then have the accessories die... then when i want to turn the key over and not hear the dreaded "click click click"...
any input appreciated.

I once dropped a jumper cable onto a bank of batteries wired up for amperage for boosting Cat D9s. I had to wear eye patches for two weeks and had DELC stamped on my forehead for a month.
I've also seen welders use jumper cables and an electrode to do an emergency repair in the field.
Electricity at any voltage should be treated with fear and respect!

it is, only the accessories are running to it and i still want it to be charged by the alternator...
and just telling me its wrong doesn't help... i looked at the link you provided but my brain can't process that many drawings and then apply it to my different set-up.
i don't need more power to start my car... it cranks over just fine.
