ooo i agree with that hwy air flow logic. makes sense. I guess it's not so much an issue in my case since im in town driving 90% of the time. Im sure it will be really beneficial when im trekking off road at a slow pace as well.
i can attest they sure work at NO speed. I was stuck idling the jeep for over an hour in midday sun with no kind of shade, AC kicking, and the temp never rose above 210 (half on the gauge)

I know that but for him to say they only come with just the round cage is wrong you can get them with shroud also, this site is suppose to give the right info and he is wrong to state that ,if you dont know dont pretend you do say he pulled that crap with someones motor and it damaged the motor.

Here is my set up. I have two fans pulling 2000 cfm. The shroud I built. You can build one too using angle and sheet aluminum and pop rivets. That is how I built my first one.

Some say yes, long term. Personally I would not do it for and off road rig due to vibration. That method was developed for the street/hot rod crowd.

For the fans to be effective, they have to be either next to the core or have a shroud to seal off the sides. Once you move the fan from the core, it sucks air in from the sides and will partially recirculate the blown air.
