Default E-Fan troubles

I already know that my E-fan only comes on when the coolant gets hot enough to trigger it. The AC does not trigger it to come on. So far, I'm not overheating but I'd like to get things working right.

Where do I start and how do I check switches and relays? Where are they?

Send a PM to SeriousOffroad, on the forum. He helped me trouble shoot problems I was having with my E-fan. Relays are located, at least on my 99 Cherokee Sport, under the hood on the passenger side. Plastic box with cover, power distribution center, about 9 x 3. I ended up replacing a blown 40 amp fuse.

Is your a/c working?.......because on '00-'01 XJs, the a/c does not trigger the efan until a/c pressure reaches X psi. '99 down, compressor engagement triggers efan, along with 218F coolant temp.

AC is working fine. I can idle it in the driveway with the AC on high, frosty cold inside and the E-fan will only kick on once temp rises a little above the 210 mark (must be 218) and it only stay on for a few minutes.

Here's some good info concerning the 2001 Cherokee AC system that you should book mark for future reference.

.....then it sounds like all is working normally. Again '00-'01 efan "on with a/c" works a little differently than '99 down.

you could bypass the whole setup to the temp switch for your e fan and just wire to a switch inside the cab when you need it cause mine used to kick off after 230 and would only kick on at 210 215
