Ebrake light not coming on
After removing the entire interior of my 96xj for rust repair, the indicator light for the ebrake isn't coming on until the brake is almost fully applied. This isn't a problem for me because i'm always aware of everything thats going on with my jeep, but the other day, my dad drove it about 5 miles with the brake on... Is there a way to adjust when the light comes on? I know its under the center console because I removed my whole interior. Since thats the only thing that went wrong from removing the whole interior, I don't mind, but when other people drive her, they don't pay attention to things like that.
I'm just a very caring and perfectionist xj driver
thanks

And in the series "I bump you from the last page back to the top because you had zero replies so far ", here you are!
ON a side note: I strongly recommend that you become less perfectionist regarding your truck....your driving an XJ, you'll go nuts.
Likely the trigger that sets the light needs to be re-adjusted, chances are its stuck somehow). It probably works with mechnical thing. I'd have another look to see if anything is loose/stuck/bent...
Haven't got my FSM here so can't look up the details....but since it comes on, it still works, but sounds like re-adjustement/connection issue.

Ah! Good! Then you'll care about this, and want to get it right:
There is no "ebrake" in a Jeep.
In fact, there is no ebrake in any car.
It's a parking brake, and it's intended to be used for parking.
Too many people think they don't need to use the "ebrake" for parking, because the transmission holds the car.
Wrong. The thingy that locks up the trans in Park is just a little tab engaging a gear. It's enough on a level surface, but it's not much and was never intended to be the only thing holding a car.
That's why all cars have PARKING brakes.
This has been a public service announcement.
