Edge or Hypertech?
First off I'd like to thank all that helped me decide on my lift plan between RE 3.5 super-flex and Rusty's 3 Spring Pack. I've decided to go with the 3 Rusty's Spring Pack. Now my question is...Hypertach chip with K&N Air intake...or Edge trail jammer? Which is more effective for HP? Either way I am going to be spending about the same amount for either one...but I'd like to get more bang for my buck...any suggestions?

I would stay away from K&N filters...they flow more air yes, but at the cost of letting in more dust/dirt. Their filters have larger holes, so it lets in more crap. I personally dont think you will get much results for a chip, I havent seen anyone say they were happy with what they got from one.
Ive put a free-er flowing exhaust, a new intake tube/cone filter, and a bored throttle body. Gained me a nice bit of power, and sounds great. Later I will do new headers as well. You could also get rid of the mechanical fan, that robs power from your engine, and run a dual electric fan setup. There are plenty of writeups out there on the web showing how to do it.
Hope that helps...

Don't waist your money on a chip..Previous post is dead on, good flowing exhaust, header, bored tb will do more for performance..
K&N filters are nothing more then cotton gauze so you'd do the same thing by heading to the drug store get some gauze wrap and then home deport for some wire and save the cash. Do not use a cotton gauze based filter if you really want to keep the dirt out of the engine.
Also on the rusty's 3" lift get a front 3/4 coil spacer and add it in to level it out.

i haven't had any problems with my k&n drop in filter. sometimes i'll swap it out for a regular one on the trail though. i need to upgrade my exhaust and maybe do a TB spacer. not to hi-jack but a quick question, is it more useful to to a spacer or bore the TB out?
the only good ive heard about chips from people who put them in a jeep is if they tow a lot of stuff.

Thank you all! Do you know if the intake covers, such as the Rock It intake Quadratec sells, will prevent the debris or should I just leave it all stock with the spacer?

your open up a huge debate that will end up goign to opion, some ppl say leave it stock other ppl sai "cai" work. it is all what you want to do. Ppl will also argue that a spacer will do nothing
me i was gonan get teh edge kit for the intake and the throttel body mainly, but now just gonna get a bored throttel body and a new intake, probaly AFE, and call it day for the intake side.

A bored throttle body will do more than a spacer. The spacer supposedly spins the air as it goes in, allowing more in at one time. Does it actually work ...all mine did in my explorer was make an annoying whistling sound every time i stepped on the gas. What a spacer WILL do is keep a bit of the heat coming off the engine off of the throttle body (said to keep temps down a bit inside of the TB...cooler temps = more air going in). But since the 4.0's intake is directly above the exhaust, this doesnt really do much.

Here is my intake setup:
-20 dollar filter from autozone
-40 dollar plastic tube from oreillys (i took out one section)
Currently modifying the stock air box into a heat shield to block the hot air from the engine.
