Anyone have this problem? With the key in the ignition (doesn't have to been turned) and the drivers door open, the electric door locks don't work. The unlock will work, but not lock. Its a 2000 Cherokee classic.

Are you saying that the XJ won't let you lock your keys while they're in the ignition?.

 

Anti annoyance feature from Chrysler. As long as it senses the key in the ignition and it's off with the door open, it won't lock so you don't lock your keys in there. Doesn't matter much though. I do it all the time and keep a pre bent clothes hanger at work. I can have it unlocked in about 10 seconds.

 

Thanks for the replies. I guess I never realized that feature before. I was fixing some wires in the door and thought I screwed something up. I figured if it was a safety feature they would lock, then immediately unlock, like my Dodge Ram. Thanks again.
