Default Electrical Issues?

I just got a 98 Cherokee Sport the other day (kinda got conned out of it as for details go, but I guess it runs better than my 96), but I can't seem to figure out a huge issue that is draining the power. Basically even when the engine is still off, I can still use the windshield wipers, the control button lights are still powered on the doors, as well as the radio can still be turned on. There are also other problems that I'll attach onto another thread, but these are really important that I fix. Thank you.

Sounds like all the accessories are still powered up. Maybe it has something to do with the ignition switch? This means the body control module is also powered up, so even with everything you can turn off, it's still drawing power.

That's my guess, Dave.

Hey, TL, welcome to the forum. I"m thinking you need to get busy with a meter and your ignition switch. See what gets power out when the key is in various positions. You might be able to find a wiring diagram at XJJeeps.com

Pretty much the only thing that does anything when I turn the key is starting the car. The other positions don't change what happens to the car, same problems. I also don't fully know what I'm doing.

That's about 90% sure it;s the ignition switch.
