Makes sense ^. Do give it a good listen though. A lifter or a push-rod really can make some noise. Then again if you are over 100K, having new rod inserts won't hurt one way or the other. You might talk to your parts people, they are probably Std, or .010 over, you won't know until you pull one. Mine just turned over 265K, runs great but sounds like xxxx if I put 5 or 10W in it.

If your rod journal is 10 under just from running you got issues. If you calculate a normal wear of .005 .006 clearance bearing size and add .005 for half of .010 under you would have at least .010 total clearance..... That thing would sound like a diesel

Ok so i've really been hoping it was a lifter issue so i ran some seafoam in the oil for about 150+ miles. Last night i ran more through the intake and then after letting it sit for 10 mins and then restarting to blow out all the smoke, i changed the oil too. The noise did quiet down a little bit but it is definitly still there. I grabbed my biggest longest screw driver i have and started playing doctor. I started by climbing into the engine bay while it was running and i ran it down the whole length of the valve cover multiple times. Everything sounded pretty good, no load tapping or anthing that sounded off. I then moved to the oil pan. There i found the noise, when i put the driver about half way down the side of the pan i could hear something that sounds like rattling inside.

Well, did you read up on the plastigauge, got a book and a torque wrench, decide what you are gonna do? Don't think putting "products" through the intake is gonna affect a lifter much btw...

I'm going to swap out the rod bearings probably next Saturday. I know how to do it. I'm very mechanically inclined, I just don't have the experience or technical know how. I built this jeep 100% solo. I know how to use plasti guage too. I just need to know the tolerances and torque spec on the rod journal bolts.

Check it out. When you put bearings in you won't be able to make em tighter. You measure to make sure they're loose enough. With a used engine you probably dont have to worry about em being too tight but if they are less then .002 you will want to take a fine brillow pad and knock a little off. Most important thing in engines is uniformity. You want to have the clearance at each journal as close to the same as possible.

Ya the bearing... Google it there are how to things. You don't want to scratch the bearing up you have to use very fine media. Can't remember exactly what to use. I doubt you'll have that issue though.
