engine swap
1996 cherokee xj. piston skirt slapping. want to put in used motor, till rebuild is possible. can i use any 96 or newer? pretty saavy at motors, lots of swaps done to older "CJ'S". first xj in my jeep fun.

Just did one. Just make sure your sensors match up. 96 was an annoying change over year so anything 97+ will have different sensors. I used the newer intake but the 96 throttle body and had to swap out the oil pressure sending unit and use my 96 injectors. Unless you feel like doing a lot of wire splicing it's the easiest route. I did splice the wires for the distributor though. Just save every wiring harness and connector you think you could need and trash it after you know you don't need it

Engine swap.
Thanks for the info. Have ran into sensors that already are different. Some are 96 and some are 97. Going to try and find a close year, but I'll take any. It will work, after playing around.
