Use a good oil filter like wix or Napa Gold, too.
Ok... Thanks!!

I've got Radi's home address. Send any speeding tickets to him and he'll pay them.

OK... Well here's a little update... Seen my Dad this weekend and he didn't really think much of it... Took it for a two and a half hour drive up north for are camping trip with no hiccups... I did the mmo treatment the day we left and maybe it quieted it down slightly, but not by much.

I did take a video of it today just to see what all of you think...

I'm gonna check the flexplate bolts this friday on my day off and see how those seem and tighten if needed.

Sounds like a 4.0 with some miles on it to me. I don't hear anything to lose sleep over.
Check the flexplate bolts, it does sound like there's a tiny bit of "scrape" in there, but it's hard to say for sure. The bulk of the noise is (imho) valvetrain- typical for older 4.0's.

^This.

It sounds like a normal 4.0 with a bit of miles on it. Keep up on the oil changes, and maybe experiment with different oils. A lot of members myself included use rotella or other diesel oil, thicker oil, MMO additive or others. It really all depends on your engine and your driving habits, it cant take a bit of trial and error to find what your engine likes best, but it is possible. No matter what oil you chose always use a quality oil filter, WIX, Napa Gold, or Mopar. Stay the hell away from Fram.

Hey! That sounds like my engine! Before the last oil change I ran a full can of "STP Motor Treatment" in it for about 20 minutes before draining. MSDS makes it look like Sea Foam but it was on sale. Unfortunately you can't buy MMO up here. The treatment took care of it for about a week, so in my case it was a stuck lifter. It's returned since and I see a bit of unpleasantness under the oil cap on the valve cover so I suspect there's some sludge down there.

Okay... Wanted to let you all know... My problem is solved!!! I've been probing around with a flathead screwdriver all week trying to pinpoint the tick, which I couldn't really pinpoint it, and I was under the jeep and noticed the water pump was weeping out coolant. So I changed it out today... And the tick is gone!!!

I'm always a fan of sophisticated testing methods, using the latest technology, to pinpoint problems. Congratulations.
