Default Estimated amount of 0 gauge wire needed?

Can anyone with a 1990 or similar XJ give me an estimate of how much 0 gauge wire I will need to do a big 3 upgrade? I don't want to buy too much because it's nearly $5 a foot for the good stuff.

Scroll down to the table at the bottom, it has an area for length.

Why thank you. Even though I don't really understand it.

It could be, depending on what you have going on with your electrical system as add ons, audio amps, power inverters, off road lamps, winch, etc... Add a couple or few of those together and ought gauge might be nessesary.

im doing mine soon ive got 4 gauge stuff that im hoping to be able to use i have the leads made up from my last vehicle. 0 gauge is prolly perfect for winching, off road lights, sub systems ect. make sure u get the correct amp fuse for the alternator lead. has to be rated for 0 gauge, theres a calculator for each gauge wire on google. post up a how to when u do it iirc i havent seen much on this and its an awesome upgrade that makes a difference!

As mentioned, lengths are listed on my site (from OEM cables.)

Of course, you'll still need to get terminals and attach them - which adds to the cost as well. And, 0AWG is probably going too far.

Or, you could just order a kit, I'll do all of the work putting it together, and you just have to install it (and I send instructions - internal links are broken, but I'm hoping to fix them soon. Finally!)

Even 4AWG is a significant upgrade over OEM, and can improve things mightily. And, both 4AWG and 1AWG will run you rather less than what you're saying that 0AWG will (and you won't have to get the terminals, tooling, and figure it all out - because I've got it already, and I've been doing this sort of work for an awfully long time...)

I made my own for 3 of my Jeeps ONLY because I had all the cable/wire already left over from another job. The results are noticeable and very worthwhile.

If someone asked me now to do it for them, I would order Jon's kit in a heartbeat.

Same here, I've got the crap sitting in a pile of electrical stuff in the garage.

Built cables for my 93 and I'm lazy enough I'm tempted to order Jon's kit for the 1997 anyway. Saves me finding an industrial crimper to borrow this time.

Either way, solder or borrow crimper, I'd buy them for the next Jeep.

I've had bad experience soldering underhood - I've had joins "turn cold," after I knew they started out good (and I knew they were good, because I'd done them and inspected them myself!)

I'll stick to a crimp join for hot environments, once you stick a good crimp it stays stuck!

And I'm willing to inspect & terminate provided cable, if you like. My tooling will handle up to 0000AWG, and I can find most terminals if you need me to. This can save you the cost of the cabling proper - flat rate shipping out and back will run about $20, provide me the measurements and terminations you need. Turnaround should be about ten days, all up, including shipping both ways (once you've placed your order for termination and paid for it, I'll bring in whatever I don't have - and it should show up about the same time, if I can use regular vendors.)

Let me know!

It's okay I'll be doing 1/0 gauge wire and I already know everything I need and I'm getting certain terminals to let me neatly and easily have multiple runs of wire going back. I was just curious about length. Thanks
