Default Evap canister missing something?

I thought I had found the answer to this, but there seems to be so many varying answers, that I'm now more confused than I was previously.

Here's my evap canister, as it was when I got the vehicle. ('89 Limited, for reference)

It's an AMC vapor canister, part 3300 2870.

In looking at it, it seems there should be a line running to the purge port. In looking at other vapor canisters, there should be a line running there.

In looking at the vacuum diagram, however:

It looks like it's supposed to be capped off. The diagram for the 87-90 2.5 also looks like there's a cap on the purge valve.

So, my question, then....is am I actually missing something, hose, purge valve or otherwise....or did 87-90 Jeep Cherokee evap canisters just not require any purge?

Sorry; had to revive this, as I still haven't found an answer.

Your cool, mine's the same. I've heard the charcoal can get saturated, maybe that's there for some process to dry it out? Idk.
Anyway it passed Ca smog like that.

Oh good, I'm glad to hear it!

I just was trying to make sense of all the vacuum hoses, and it bothered me that it looked like a port was left open. Guess it's just weird, then.
