Default Evap leak

Hello to all,

First off I have 2 issues not sure if they are linked or not. My jeep is a 99 xj sport 4.0
The first issue has been going on for a few years now. When driving around with the ac on when I let off the gas the rpm's don't drop down near idle and when I hit the brakes it feels like the gas is stuck for a brief moment. the after a few seconds the rpm's will drop down like normal. I don't mind it too much but freaks out my wife when she drives it. No code has ever come up for this issue. When the ac isn't on the rpm's will drop down right away.

Second issue, got a code a bit ago for a small evap leak, thought maybe the gas cap so I tightened it at first reset the ecu light came back on. So I bought a new cap reset ecu, light came back on. Not sure what next step should be, Should I smoke the system to look for a leak? is there a common place where for leaks to look for? I just hate tracking down vacuum leaks lol Thanks in advance for any help

My '99 did that idle thing too when A/C was in-use. Keeping it simple, all I did was clean the TB and IAC. Maybe I just "lucked" into it but that did the trick - problem gone. Of course my newest A/C problem is no A/C at-all.

Also, my '99 gave me a CEL last week, and the scan produced P0442 (Evap leak). Fortunately for me, I had an extra purge solenoid on-hand and I swapped it out just as a swag - problem gone.

Hey, what can I say? Some days you're the dog and some days you're the tree!

Ya I already cleaned the throttle body but didn't do the IAC. and while doing some searching it seems that evap code is pretty common and I will take a look at the hoses to see if I can find any dry rotted ones. thanks for the reply
