Default EVAP line rubber replacement?

So i got the p0455 code yesterday. (2001 XJ) I checked the fuel cap, seems ok, but i may replace it anyways as it IS the original i believe. . Checked the line and it is way rotted. Dont actully see any holes but it is SO rotted it is worth replacing. Common on these from what i understand. So i am seeing it can be replaced with a rubber line rather than the OEM steel line. What i want to know is , do i just remove the old line and clamp on the rubber line, or is there more to it than that? I found a few you tube videos replacing the line with the OEM line, but I cant find any videos doing exactly this, so figured id ask here as you guys have been super helpful with all the gremlins this new-to-me XJ has. Its a lot of stuff, but so far this is fun for me to fix all these little things! Anywho, i figured replacing the line hopefully will clear the code, if not i will move on to the next component in the EVAP system. Thanks in advance!
