Use a 44 series flowmaster or a single chamber muffler. Will be plenty loud then.

my friend has an f150...i know it has 2 giant cats inline, and they quiet it down alot...thats probably why yours is so quiet...i have a cherry bomb glasspack with a standard cat...its too loud for me. it sounded really good for about 2 months...but then it settled and got alot louder. so im probably going to be switching to a flowmaster 40.

I got a 98 WITH cat but no muffler, with pipe running out the back with sort of stock look. Take in mind im 20 years old and dont mind a little noise, but it isnt too bad at all and sounds good imo. Plus save some cash without muffler.... just my 2 cents

header, new cat and 2.25 exhaust. unless you have some big time mods on your engine 2.25 is the largest available to maintain proper back pressure.

I've considered doing the same thing with my Jeep. I don't want an exhaust that makes every police officer in the area look in my direction, just something with a nice deep tone. I considered buying a new standard 2 in header, rebuilding the exhaust piping, and putting a cherry on it. I dont want to full with the 2.25 simply because my Jeep gives me enough problems without worrying about backpressure lol. As for the no cat guys, really reconsider. The crap your straightpipes throw into the air is terrible.
