The trick is to make sure they're wrapped in duct tape properly.

That maybe so, but I live in one of those states that don't require inspections. Nor do they care about cat conv. in my area . As long as the exhaust isn't deafening, the police are decent.

Flowmasters sound good but I prefer MagnaFlow's. I like the deep smooth tone and would prefer it not to be real loud. Guess it's just me but I find it pointless to have extremely loud exhaust unless your running a V8, it will just never sound as good.

I'm running a high flow cat, 18" body MagnaFlow muffler and 2.5" mandrel bent tail pipe.

Anyone run one of Summits welded mufflers? Fair amount cheaper if they sound similar.

I love my flowmaster super 40, it has a great sound. However, the quality of their products has seemed to have gone down. I have friends who have run flowmasters for years and they have been great. I recently started hearing a buzzing sound from mine at a certain RPM. Right around 2500 RPM if I'm going up a hill. It almost sounds like somethings loose inside. My friend had the same thing happen on his '98 5.2L ZJ and it ended up being a bad baffle inside the muffler. What sucks with mine is its only a few months old. Flowmaster said they could give me a "discount" on a new one, but they wouldn't replace it. I had it welded on by a trusted exhaust shop who even sells their products, so its not like its my fault it broke or I installed it wrong...

Go back to where you bought it from. Any aluminized Flowmaster muffler has a 3 year warranty. Their stainless steel mufflers carry a 10 year warranty.

IT"S FEDERAL LAW! you MUST HAVE ONE, No mater what state you live in...

We do NOT let any talk about removing the cat on this site..

it could just be the engine bogging down from the hill climb

Thats what I thought at first. I've had flowmasters on my other XJs in the past though. This noise truly sounds like a rattle. Whats wierd is that my friend who had the same problem had the exact same muffler. Flowmaster Super 40.
