Default Exhaust question

I have a completely stock 98 Xj and I'm redoing the exhaust because the cat is bad and I just wanted a new exhaust. These are the parts I've got:
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...%26+Drivetrain

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...%26+Drivetrain

Will these fit easily and I'm asking because I believe the cat is 2.5" and the pipes from engine is 2.25" so is there some way to retro fit it? I only have 2 days to get this job done so i can't wait to order an adapter. Anyone know if it fits without an adapter? Or is there a way to just weld it on?

Stock is all clamped, 2.5" to the rear of the cat. Muff is 2.25" as is the tailpipe. Only place it's welded is tailpipe to muff. I believe the Flow 40 is a good 6" shorter than stock muff so u need a short piece of patch pipe between the cat and muff if doing it yourself.

Can I just use a plasma cutter and cut the tailpipe away from muff and reuse?

yea the only thing is that the flowmaster is shorter than the stock muffler so what i did is go to advance auto and buy a 2.25 extension ipe should be wider at the end so it just slides right into ur stock piping than i just clamped it all together.

Alright. Thanks sounds good, so I can just unbolt and drop current exhaust system from the cat to muff and then unclamp and replace, weld and then remount?

i find that hard to believe... at any city of the country... they all have a big ole rack right there on the floor where these adapters are kept along with exhaust repair kits and pipe and mufflers and everything...
