also the tool i use the most out of all my trail resources is a chaisaw. to some like winching it can be cheeting but i have no problem with it in a stock jeep, i use the saw more than anything else...a few times to make bridges over deactivation ditches in canadian rockeys.. with that you need separet gas and oil (oil for gas and chain) and a few more basic tools for the saw itself.

90% of all expedition rigs run 31-33" tires they can take you lots of places with good tire placement and a spotter. IMO the hubs and front axle shafts are not strong enough on the d30 for 35's. Locked. Not to mention you won't have much up travel cause of the amount of bumpstopping required. I have 33's on a 3.5" lift and I had to trim and bumpstop a lot. 35's wouldn't be worth the extra inch of clearance

The with the price And amount of fab needed to install a jk d30 built for 37's it is a waste of money it's still a d30 for the work needed I would goto the junkyard and get a d60 regear it and install it. And it will be loads stronger then the jk30 and have bigger brakes too

you guys didnt have to discontinue the conversation its actually good info at the moment because like everything everybody has their own opinions about everything, as for a chainsaw most places i know of wouldnt allow people to chop down trees and i dont think that would be a really safe item to have in the back and a lot of space would be taken up as well, as for tire size i dont plane on going any bigger then 33s any bigger would just be over kill
i have a 95 1500 dodge ram thts unroad worthy rght now sitting at my place with fullsize dana44 front and dana 60 rear... considered for a minute but i want proper width axles to keep it street legal and shortening them is beyond my skill so i didnt even look into the budget part, although with the d30 examples i mentoned earlyer i woundnt copy them but take my preferences from my faves, there not tough to find on the fourwheeler or jp mag websites.. another swap i heard was common is the front d44 from a bronco or ford pickup where some old ones have an acceptable width for someone debating full width or stock width leaning toward stock

with the chainsaw to clarify i do go for the deadfall first (it does take u space i have a separet tool box for it )... i live in British columbia right up against crown land, its filled with all sorts of ancient and new roads everything from ; abandoned logging and mining roads, roads to cell and internet towers, recreatinal quading trails, most of the sick trails are century old horse logging roads that are surprisingly still there.. the chainsaw isnt just for making bridges but clearing deadfall from the trail, and like a winch can kind many uses for it.

got some poser flexes going on put some water in it and filled up the oil today and drove it down the road to get some fuel, its got some good power to it sounds like it has a little miss so im going with wires and spark plugs and i could tell it had the infamous cracked jeep header so anybody got any place they know of that sells performance style but still at a reasonable price

also stripped out the old nasty carpet that was all mildew and smelled horrible going to scuff up the floor and coat it with some bed liner and drill a few drain holes in the floor board, i was actually pretty suprised on the amount of rust the front didnt have much if any at all just the rear above the gas tank which is pretty notorious for mud getting stuck at heres a few before and after pictures of the floor

I think I would change the old engine oil, if you havent already. I never, I said never leave whatever engine oil there is in a New Jeep I get. This is the first thing I do. Might be 5w-20 or Hydraulic fluid for all you know, or might be Mobil 1 10w-30 Extended Performance, You just Dont Know, Do You?
