exploder 8.8 swap
hey guys i just bought a 8.8 out of an exploder and was wandering how hard it is to swap into my 92 cherokee what needs to be moved/removed/added?
i have a dana 35 in it rite now but the perches are rounded really bad(thats what happens when u drive it like a honda) but i want it to be stronger for a strocker (replacing axle shafts on the side of the road sucks).

um actauly you need to get a professional to change the gears and it it would be pontless to swap i an axle then swap gears, just swap gears in your D30 up front to match the 8.8, look you need to know what your doing before you try to swapin an axle, you cant put a ring and pinion in yourself, well you can but you willl burn up your rearend by the time you make it to the end of your neighborhood!

dude dont listen to mobile, if you read up on it and get a good step by step from someone that you trust and that knows what they are doing it can be done properly WITHOUT A SHOP just do some research and know what you are doing when you do it. or you can give me your rear and ill put it in mine lol

im saying its very hard to swap gears, not axles, the pinion has to be at a certain depth in the diff, if its not in the right place it will tear everything up, yeah i guess you COULD do it but i wouldnt take the chance, but first yuo need to fing out what gear ratio your 8.8 is to see if you even have to get new gears anyway

imsure he is capable of doing the fab work, he just needs to know his gear ratios, and ive never seen or heard of someone doing their own ring and pinion at their house or in their drive way......

its doable you just need the tools for it and since thats not a common think to be done nobody really has the tools but from the install i watched ian do on extreme it seemed pretty easy you just need the right tools

yeah i mean if he has the tools and the know how, more power to him! but i mean it just has to be so precise and if you screw up you could mess up your whole diff, im not just pullin this out of my butt, one of my uncles buddies tried this and he ended up burning up his rear axle in 2 days
