Export(?) RHD XJ Passenger Side Spare Tire Mount
Howdy everyone,
This is not a very technical question, but do any of you have export right-hand drive XJs? I learned that some RHD 84-96 (& 97) XJs had their spare tire mounted on the passenger side, with a significantly longer floor support bracket. It is beyond hard to find pictures of this bracket because I also realized many RHD XJs had their spare tire mounted on the driver's side (like most XJs typically do). The distinction I later noticed is US vs EU / Japanese RHD models. After digging through dozens of Google search results, I found two old auction pages for an Italian XJ and a Japanese XJ. The latter gives the perfect angle of what I am describing. After more digging, going down a rabbit hole using Yandex reverse image search and even "A.I." search filters, I found one such bracket for sale in Japan on Buyee, except it's not just the bracket you see in the auction photo, but an assembly that bolts together on both sides of the trim. That sale page includes a photo of an exploded-view diagram showing the parts associated. That inevitably led me to a parts catalog site with a section for export XJs. The Buyee page would have me believe this particular assembly is exclusive to the years 92-97, and the parts catalog site says specifically '97 export. Thoughts?
I have never seen one of these before this, so I do not know how it connects to the body behind the plastic trim--obviously the diagram shows something to that effect but I want to actually see how to attaches (without the interior trim). Does anybody have an XJ with such a bracket? I included a photo below of the typical XJ rear cargo area stripped of trim for comparison's sake.
