It hurts to say this. But tomorrow she's going to the shop.

The mechanic is my landlords brother. So I can trust him better than most mechanics.

So apparently I screwed up. A few bolts on the oil pan were loose. Not sure how it happened. Rear main seal should be good. I'll find out soon enough.

So how much did the "I'm frustrated and out of patience and tired of fighting it so I won't do the basic tests that were recommended by knowledgeable people" approach set you back?

$20. And I wouldn't have even thought of loose bolts. Once again I've been severely outsmarted by a vehicle.

Pretty sure the guy felt bad for me.

Well, twenty bucks is a cheap lesson. I've paid a lot more for some of mine.

I'd have to get the engine cleaned. Cost me 4$ for the cleaner and I'd have to go to a car wash to power wash the engine. I feel I came out ok in this. Feel stupid but not broke.

The point is that you have to learn how to dive in and diagnose things yourself. You certainly sound capable enough but possibly lack the confidence to do so. We'll help you along the way. A good lesson learned.
