Factory transfer case skid
Found one at the junkyard. Is this gonna work well? I have a TC drop so I'm pretty sure I'll need to use a spacer to bolt to the frame. Anyone else in a similar situation?

We found a 95 with the full skid package in the jy last weekend. My brother picked the tcase skid for his XJ. It had already been removed and was laying in the back of the Jeep. At first we removed the skid plate from the crossmember( just 2 bolts) then decided to double check XJs with no skid. He had to buy the crossmember as well beacuse the nuts for the mounting bolts are made into it. i sure you can weld some onto a non skid xmember and be fine. I do not know how it bolted to the unirail though.

Thread revival.
I'm looking to do the same. Was about to order the Warn t-case skid, but am thinking of trying a zj skid first.
xjjeepthing, will send you a pm.

i have a stock one. I was planning on buying one, then i saw the warn. when I saw the warn i said "self, we can make that". So i crawled under to take some measurements and really couldn't see anything that the warn (or my about to exsist) design was going to cover that wasn't already.
the warn or other aftermarket will be stronger and smoother (slide better) than the stock unit. I've hit mine a couple times, it has a few minor dents, but nothing that takes away from it structural strength. I deceided to spend my time elsewhere.
If you can score a stock skid really cheap do it, it will work. Keep in mind the aftermarket ones still arn't expensive, and if I was going through the trouble of installing one, I don't know if I would slap a stock one on. jmo
