Fan Clutch and cooling questions
Fan clutch time. I have a fan clutch that I can stop with a thick, rolled up magazine but doesn't spin freely after running until op-temp and shut down so I'm just going to replace. Moving to North Florida in November and my buddy says they see 40s for a couple of months in the winter. I read some members saying the ZJ clutch moves too much air in cold months and doesn't allow min-op-temp to be reached.
Think the mini-jet engine ZJ upgrade is necessary for Florida summer months or stick with the OEM-style clutch from Four Seasons on Rock Auto for year round driving?
Also, does anyone recommend a specific water pump and radiator from Rock Auto? Searched but most guys seem to recommend a high-performace model of each.

I've been running the stock fan clutch here in north Florida all summer with no issues. I have a 100% stock cooling system and it's fine. Replace your hoses and coolant too if you haven't already.

Heat Creep and other questions
Hey, guys
So I installed a new relay and got my e-fan working again. Replaced the clutch fan, radiator, water pump, thermostat and hoses. Still getting a bit of a creep with the a/c running. Climbs to almost the first notch after 210. For some reason, the e-fan doesn't run while the air is on at the 210 mark. Is the e-fan motor on it's way out? Seems to work fine at lower engine temps.

If you haven't replaced your fan clutch yet, let me say that it is a bit difficult get it out due to the small working space. I had to remove it along with the shroud from underneath. I couldn't pull it from the top, just not enough space.

This is the clutch I bought. See those fins sticking out? They will touch your radiator during installation. Be careful to not damage the rad. Also, make sure to install the fan back on the correct way!
This new clutch cranks a lot of air. I drove it around in stop-n-go traffic for an hour and then left it running in my driveway and it barely went over 210 (verified by OBDII reader, not temp gauge).

I was able to get the shroud up from the top. It was actually one of the easiest removal of an engine component I've had to do so far lol. I probably replaced it in less than 30 min.

The upgraded clutch is from a 2.5L equipped XJ(7") compared to a 6"(Hayden 2625) for the 4.0L. The Amazon # for the upgrade clutch is Hayden 2737. Or NAPA #272310.
