Whew, thank goodness. I thought I would have another problem on my hands. The radiator will be the next replacement. I'll do a search to see some of the popular oem replacements.

I started to wonder about the differences betweem the Hayden fans. After looking up their specs the 2737 is classified as Heavy Duty whereas the 2625 is classified as Standard Duty. (Dimensions are the same except for the *A - Overall Diameter, *H - Overall Height and * - Design difference )

2625 B REV (*A - 5.99) .63 1.03 2.60 1.53 3.25 2.62 (*H - 3.11) 5/16-18 HOLE
2737 C REV (*A - 7.20) .63 1.03 2.60 1.53 3.25 2.62 (*H - 3.24) 5/16-18 HOLE

REV = Counter clockwise rotation when looking at engine from radiator

B - Standard Duty Thermal
Turns fan 60-70% of shaft speed when engaged.
Disengage to 20-30% of the shaft speed
Used with lighter pitch fans. (1-1/2” of pitch)
* Flat plate impeller design with up to 11.4 Sq. In. of working surface.
Identified by a smooth steel faceplate & thermal spring assembly on the front side
_____________
C - Heavy-Duty Thermal
Turns the fan 70-90% of the shaft speed when engaged for increased cooling.
Turns the fan 25-35% of the shaft speed when disengaged.
Used with deeper pitch fans. (2-1/2” of pitch).
* Land and groove design with up to 27 Sq. In. of working surface.
Identified by finned aluminum faceplate and thermal spring on the front.
____________
D - Severe Duty Thermal
Turns the fan 80-90% of the shaft speed when engaged.
Turns the fan 20-30% of the shaft speed when disengaged.
Used with deeper pitch fans. (2-1/2” of pitch).
Land and groove design with up to 72 Sq. In. of working area.
Larger working surface provides cooler running and longer life expectancy.
Thicker body and deep finned faceplate dissipate more heat.
Can be used in place of many heavy-duty clutches.

I purchased a new 2625 type a number of years ago, but haven't yet installed. My old one still seems to work but feels slightly less stiffer than the new one, when turning by hand.

Anyone have an idea of why my e-fan is working with the a/c before the engine gets up to temp but at operating temp there is no clutch cycle and the e-fan doesn't come on either? Is that fan motor or temp sensor related?

Update: TL;DR Success: cleaned fan motor, tested, runs at all temps: Good feelings

I had a few hours to kill this morning so I decided to test if cleaning the fan motor would help at all. A french guy on another forum had what sounded like my same problem. Full ac charge, clutch working, fan working at low temps but not at operating temp, etc. I pulled the fan assembly and the motor, it looked as thought the motor couldn't be serviced but I was able to get at it without breaking anything. Just pry back the tabs and the housing opens up. But I lost the fan blades. They were frozen onto the spindle and broke them off trying to free the wheel. Cleaned up the motor parts with some brake cleaner (knew I'd be replacing fan motor if my test worked) and scuffed up the corroded magnets and copper parts with some sand paper, a little fogging oil on the moving bearings and put it all back together. I plugged in the motor and set the ac to run. The motor turned on with the clutch (or however it works) and shut off. I got the engine up to 210 and tried the ac. Great success, it now operates. Off to le JY to find a new fan wheel

Good stuff!

But really, should should just replace the fan with a new one. They aren't expensive.

Yea I kind of got my blinders on and just wanted a working one. Especially since the guy at the JY gave me the gringo tax. I was worried because Rock Auto had fan assemblies that don't look like mine and said, "Not for systems with clutch fan, but electric" or something like that.
Appreciate your responses, Mark. You da man
