Default Fan switch?

I know that there is prolly a thread somewhere within the confines of this site which covers this topic but I cannot for the life of me find it. My fan only runs on postion 4 and use to run on 1 and 4. Curious to know if anyone might know if it is an easy fix or a major problem. All connections have been checked for I had the dash out and back in today and double checked all connectors before and after. Totally stumped so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

its the blower motor resistor behind the glovebox. simple to replace and sometimes repairable if you can solder.

this is what it looks like after you take it out, but rusty and dirty

cant miss is once you open the glovebox, take out the 2 rubber stopper and let it drop, you will see it.

Default you had me confused.

The fan you were talking about is the blower.

Thanks man I really appreciate the info. Yeah I figured that was what it was but I have had all kinds of crazy problems with it. A mouse tried to move in and set up residence and got in the ducts and built himself a nest and had everything stopped up. So after cleaning everything thoroughly I found that my fan only worked on hi and thought that maybe it was and is a simple fix or the flippin mouse may have chewed through some wires. So thanks once again for your help.
