Default First post and I could use some help!!

The tail lights on my 1998 XJ won't shut off. When I press the brake pedal the break lights light up. I read a few of the threads about this situation but they weren't much help. I'm trying to turn them off for the night because I have to work in the a.m. So far I've tried pulling the tail light fuses in the junction box and the break light switch fuse in the power distrobution box under the hood. Neither turned them off.

Remove the shrouds on the inside of the cabin to get at the rear tail light wiring and find where the wiring harness connectors are, one each side I recall. There you will find corrosion and corruption, best if you jumper each wire one at a time and eliminate the factor harness connectors. I just used wirenuts and 2 years later everything still works but you should probly solder them. Takes time but worth it. This is on a 98 xj. This is all the wiring for your tail lights and once it goes bad you get all kinds of weird light probs. Don't think too much about it, that's the problem, just start jumpering out those harness connectors.
