First Upgrade...
So, I'm replacing my tires for some General Grabber AT2's...
And I'm going to be fixing my rust spots in the next few months....but, besides that....
What is your first upgrade and why...and what do you recommend for me, a Jeep newbie?

Depends on the depth of your pocketbook!! If it's "shallow" I'd say a budget boost. If it's "deep" then look into a lift system. That will greatly improve the off road prowess of your XJ. I looked on your profile, and didn't see any lift info, so I'm assuming you don't have one. HTH!!

depends what you want, if you already replaced your tires I wouldnt buy a lift because itd look silly, start with some motor upgrades, intake exhaust and work your way around until you have money saved up for wheels/tires lift and gears

Don't ask me, I'm one of those performance junkies... Which means I do stuff kinda bass-ackwards... I did a cam, then tires, then bj's and u-j's, then tires again, then the lift, then de-lifted it , then got to fixing everything that went wrong...And throw brakes in there between it all...

the engine is recently rebuilt...not to anything performance wise, but it RUNS, so I don't wanna screw that up. I'm going with 235/75/15's, and I sw a pic of someone's jeep with a 1.5-2" lift and it didn't look stupid. I don't have ANYTHING done to it yet..
I'm used to doing performance things first with my past cars......but with 121k on it, I'm a little worried. suggestions for my higher mileage baby?
COS...ps-I'm a HUGE steelers fan as well. My jeep is fully black..I'm thinking of incorporating some steelers thing in there....

I think that might be OKC's XJ...He's got a white one just like me, but w/ a lift. I'm pretty sure that's his, cuz I got no lift w/ 225/75R15's on it.
Prob just basic checks to be sure it's mech. sound on the drivetrain, i.e. fluid changes and such, u-joint's, all that jazz... I'd almost say a cooling system upgrades, as we all seem to hit that monster at one point or another.

depending on what you wanna do with it i'd say invest in some recovery and armor. you can have all the lift in the world but if you dont have recovery and get stuck bad your SOL.

I'm in South Central Pennsylvania...
I've already run into 1 issue with my cooling system. It drops to 0 every now and then (pressure) when I've been driving for over an hour and sitting at idle. But it's running fine when it happens, no other indictors anything is wrong. I had the pump replaced..that didn't do it..

Temp sender prob...
I think I have run into every cooling system one could have on one of these...
From a frozen block (now) to overheating every other day...
Ya know, now that I think of it, why do I deal?
