Default Fix Sagging Leaf Spring (Stock Susp.)

Here's a short write-up on how to fix the stock sagging leaf springs. Wasn't able to post this in the write up sections, so here it is:

1. 40 bucks at autozone gets you a set of leaf spring helpers

2. Jack up the XJ on the rear differential and place jack stands under the frame in front of the rear axle after the wheels are removed

3. While the rear axle is hanging free, place the helper leafs behind the top plate which holds your factory U-bolts

4. Tighten the nuts until each side of the helper leaf is touching the top of the factory leaf set (pretty self explanatory)

5. Jack the XJ back up using the rear differential and remove the jack stands (make sure its high enough to put your wheels back on!)

6. Secure wheels and torque lug nuts to 75 ft. lbs.

7. Enjoy, mine gave me about 2"

More pics to come...

This is just a temp fix until I get the full length kit, but so far they are holding up great. Not much different than using a shackle or block kit, pretty much everything except a full length aal or new leaf kit will not last as long.

Agreed, an inventive inexpensive solution to a common problem, but a bandaide nonetheless. Once leaves fail the only real solutions are to rebuild or replace them.

Just did this to my 94. It gave my old sagging leafs about a 1 inch lift. Some people say it makes it ride too stiff; it feels fine to me. I'm still on my stock suspension, stock is kinda my thing....

for how cheap it is if its a temp fix for a little bit it works. I used them on a few buddies trucks and they were happy with it but they did not last very long as stated especially if its used for towing
