Floor pan cancer question
I was under my jeep today looking for possible rust, I think I have found a spot on the rear right floor pan, I can only see it from under the jeep. I ripped the carpet out of the back of my xj already and sanded and bed lined it. I was going to do the whole jeep like that and then replace carpet to protect from future rust. I then decided against it if the floor pans were not rusted, I might have been wrong because of the spot I found. It looks like rust but is it worth it to rip all the carpet out and patch and beedline everything and then install new carpet? Thanks guys! I have a pic I'll try to post it, sorry I'm new haha

there is a product i think its called por
https://www.google.com/search?q=por+...hrome&ie=UTF-8
use that to stop the rust in its tracks than patch the floor and proceed with plans. wouldnt be a bad idea if you plan on keeping this truck for the rest of youre life to undercoat it too
alot of the people on here are pretty young and feel like this is the vehicle they are going to never get rid of. realisticly you probably wont keep it, that being said you could always just do nothing and the rust would probably take years to progress to the point youre foot goes thru it

I found a little spot like that once, let it go a week and next thing, bam!
Actually good you found it soon, pull your footwell carpet back, steel patch it and bedline it, should be good. Common area to fail 1st, near the muffler, due to the extra heat aggravating oxidation from a damp carpet. A heat shield over the muffler wouldn't hurt the cause.

I replaced floor pans because there was nothing left, Do yourself a bid favor and on the weekend take the seats out and pull the carpet. Go to wal-mart and buy marine fiberglass it is only 12 bucks a can. grind the rust off and put fiberglass and patch holes.
Buy a few spray cans of bed liner and cover it up.
