floor well lights
im curious what year xj has the floor well lights, im wanting to upgrade all my lights to LEDs and i saw a video og a guy swapping them out, before that i didn't even know XJs has floor lights. Mines a 99 and no socket for the lights so im guessing it must have been the later models?

I thought they all had them? Diagram in the FSM shows em. Might not be obvious if the cover is gone. Stock is a 168 bulb, but I found some LEDs with a flat face that worked well versus a longer bulb that was prone to shining in your face or getting bumped. I actually tried a few different ones until I got the brightness I liked.

I think so too. I remember looking at my 96 that doesn't have them and comparing to my brother's 93 that has them and I think the wiring was there just missing the bracket/socket. I remember thinking someone could probably 3D print the needed parts to add them.

At this point I realise that I've forgotten what model OP actually has - & this forum doesn't like you going back to check anything, 1/2-way through composing a post.

It's quite possible that they all had the wiring, regardless of whether the lights were fitted & that, pre-'96 (say) that was only higher specc'd models, but by '01 they threw them in everything, just to use them up (it's not uncommon for run-out models to be different (minus things they've run out of & won't re-order but loaded with bits there was a surplus of), often not so popular options).

I saw a suggestion elsewhere that I liked. Instead of trying to find the correct bracket and socket, use a short section of the stick-on led lighting strips and direct solder to the wiring. Trim to length to get the brightness you want and stick to the bottom of the dash metal frame. The strips are dirt cheap on eBay.
