iv never been pulled over for noise, once for not having a license plate on the front bumper ( apparently CA law there has to be one?) so i just welded the aluminum to the steal. lol and drove to police they approved it got my ticket lifted. next day it fell off god knows where lol.

I've only got a cat on mine and a side pipe that comes out just behind the rear passenger door. It sounds pretty good, nothing compared to my 83 S-15 that was straight piped , but still a good rumble. I've never gotten a noise ticket, but my friends girlfriend burnt her leg on the tip. i'm still not sure how she managed to tuck her leg UNDER the car when she was getting out...

wow, that would never pass texas safety inspection. here, your exhaust has to exit the car past the last opening to the cabin. it sucks cause i always wanted to run those sidepipes like vettes used to have on my 65 mustang and they said no cause the rear windows were past the tips.
but, a straight pipe from the cat back sounds badass on an I6. i used to run that on my 325i bmw. it sounded like an f1 car when you romped it and at idle and normal driving it was a little louder then normal exhaust. it exited behind the car. i ran straight pipes from the manifold back on a 325e (i6 also but single pipe) and it was sweet!!!! loud, but sweet.
i say run the striaght pipes from the cat back because the cat will still be there stop any excess noise but it will still be a very free exhaust

Too many opinions to choose from!!! Lol! I'll cut the muffler off and run it with just the cat fora while. If I don't like it then I'll add the new pipe and flowmaster

I have a gutted cat, and a glasspack that I cut off of some old exhaust pipe that I had laying around.
It sounds really good. I dont really like these new "cherry bombs" though, they just have perforated metal inside and some fiberglass.
I looked down my glasspack and its got metal ribbing in there, looks like a fishes gills, anyways, mine sounds real deep and almost "diesely"

I run 2.5" dynomax tailpipe (cheap money like 70$) and a knock-off flowmaster original 40 (40$ and sounds exactly the same.). Sounds awesome without breaking the bank.

Ok I just cut my muffler off and running just off the cat and I don't like it. Too loud!!! It could be because it's cut right under the cab and not turned out or down. Gonna run it like this I guess till I can afford a new exhaust system

im running a 18in glasspack atm and i want it to be louder, so im thinking of cutting it off at the cat and leaving it open. will that make me lose some MPGs?
