Default Flowmaster super 44 for a stock cherokee

Hey I know this is border lined of the new forum sections but i need help figuring the offset for the muffler or better off could you aid me with the part number/link relating to the proper muffler i will be needing thanks.

I just got my catback from performancecurve.com. The spr 44 part# on my flowmaster box is #942547 2.5" center in and 2.5" offset out. Hope this helps.

I say go with the 40 not the 44. I'm running a Flowmaster 40 with a center inlet, and dual outlets. They're 2.5 inches for both the inlet and the outlets. It sounds amazing too

44 is slightly too loud and raspy,
I'm going to craigslist mine, same place I bought it haha, and buy one of those thrush ones, I guess they're exactly the same as the flowmaster.

Yes it is raspy with the stock piping and stock cat. But put a 2.5" pipe and a highflow cat and it is no where near as raspy. The spr40 uses a 5x10 case and the spr44 uses a 4x9.5 case. that is the difference.

I have the 44. I got my highflow cat and catback from mudfrog. I wanted to save some money so i opted out of getting the spr 40.

just go to youtube to hear the differences,just make sure you are listening to the clips that fits what your application is going to be. For me the 44 was the way to go. Deep idle like the 40 but alittle raspy at the top of the rpm range. I don't pound on mine so cost won out for me.
just my 2cents. either one would be good. its up to you and what you like.

Can you run duals on the Cherokee? Anytime I have taken mine to get done they tell me they cant run true duals because of the close proximity to the gas tank?

There isn't a "real" way to run true duals on an inline six. The only possible way is to run aftermarket headers with a dual outlet or do what I did and get a muffler with a dual outlet.

My duals are set up like this

Right- Runs straight out of the right outlet on the muffler
Left- Small straight pipe welded to left outlet, then it goes to a 90 degree elbow to turn it left, then there is another straight pipe that runs the length of the gas tank, then there is one more 90 degree elbow to turn the pipe to the back and another straight pipe to let the end of the left side meet the bumper.



The trick is, don't take it in to anywhere to "have it done". I did mine in auto shop with my teacher and he approved the entire thing. I haven't had any problems with my gas tank anyway. If you do feel worried about any possible issues, just throw a heat shield in front of the gas tank and then you're all good!

if you plan on doing alot of offroading,I would think twice about running duals of any kind.

I just purchase the super 44 in the aluminized form factor what is the difference between aluminized and stainless steel will it be difficult to weld without burning threw or will it be the same as regular steel.

stainless will last longer and i think it requires a different wire to weld it. if the welder knows what he/she is doing they won't burn through it. you'll be fine.

Ummm well i got my super 44 welded up its got a bit quieter with a turn down right before the axle, it sounds pretty good i set off some car alarms not to mention the turn down is 2 1/2 might that have helped with the raspyness.

I think its generation specific,meaning that the newer XJ's have the clearence problems when running duals.

I read it on here somewhere about the clearence issues. Just something to watch out for if anyone is thinking of it.

The running of duals out the back may necessitate the appropriate inputs at the vehicle front, perhaps a hemi?
