Fluid Film & Beach Sand??
Hey All,
My 1995 XJ is mostly rust-free, but had some surface rust on the rear diff and a little in the frame rails, so I sprayed them with Fluid Film/Woolwax (both seem to be the same, only smell a little different).
After a couple of trips on the beach, I notice that the sand STICKS BIG TIME to wherever I have sprayed the Fluid Film. Pressure washing the areas does little good removing the sand.
I am a little bit concerned about the rear diff area. At least I have rinsed/sprayed it with water, so I'm guessing at least the salt is not present, even though sand remains.
I am more concerned about the inside of the frame rails. I looked inside the frame rails though the large hole in the front wheel well, and sure enough, there is a thick sludge of Fluid Film, sand, and I am sure salt spray (although I do not drive anywhere the salt water). The inside of the frame rails are NOT SO EASY to spray and rinse.
Thoughts? My main concern that spraying the Fluid Film has backfired on me, causing the sand/salt to stick MORE therefore actually ACCELERATING the rusting process. Or am I just over-analyzing, and the Fluid Film still does its job, though now it is turned into a goopy sand mixture??

I htink you are over-analyzing. The FluidFilm's job is to stop moisture, and it does. The sand sticking to it doesn't change that.
