x2 on the thermostat I replaced mine with a new one and the new one was bad from Autozone.
Pull out the thermostat and test it in boiling water to see if it opens. Make sure you have a thermometer in the water to watch the temp and make sure it opens when it is suppose to.

i have had to burp mine several times and its a 2000. i have found that its a matter of opening up the radiator(taking off the cap) turning on the car and slowly pouring in the coolant, also sometimes you have to turn on the heat.

It helps to put the front end up on ramps, since air rises, and buy a funnel with a rad cap adapter. They are usually 20-25 bucks and can be found at any parts store. And as for parts store thremostats, if yo get a Stant, get the superstat or you are wasting your time, unless you want one from the dealer, which makes sense as well.

if the system has air the water pump will cavitate.....The air need to be removed in order to get it flowing. When i drained my Jeep i found that squeezing the lower hose and filling the radiator up took the air out.
