Ok, i know im a newb but this has got me kinda lost....

I had factory fog lights,
And associated wirings, and the relay, and the switch...(01xj)

I purchased aftermarket fogs as the OE ones didnt work...
After stripping off the coating on the wiring where they connect into the OE
fogs, i noticed the wires were coated black.

I have the A.M. fogs grounded, and the positive runing to a fuse,
now can i tie into the switch @ the center console to utilize that switch and just tap into the power supply after the switch is flicked on? if so, what wire is that?

if anyone has a diagram for the passenger side fuse panel that would be helpful.
\Thanks.

Any ideas?
I had the same symptom on mine, and turned out to be a faulty switch. Just got a s/h replacement (eBay) and swapped it, perfect! Hope it's that easy for you

Hi Dave;

A diagram is indeed an excellent explanation, and I also promote the use of relays as good practice and for switch longevity. However, looking at this again I have a couple of queries regarding circuit placement.

1. I'd put SW1 between Fuse 1 and the relay, so that the minimum wiring is live when switch is off.

2. I'd place the lights on the other side of the relay, between the relay and ground, so that the relay is effectively switching the live rather than the earth.

These changes would have no operational effect, but to my mind would technically be more "traditional" and also obviate the potential for wiring faults causing the lights to come on unintentionally (eg. earth faults)

HTH, and would be interested in any further comments - Steve

Quick question Gorillaxj. Where is the factory relay location and which fuse location? Thanks, Mike
