Ford 8.8
I just pulled a rear from a 92 mazda navajo Basically the same thing as a Ford exploder.
My buddy keeps telling me it's not the same "quality" as a 8.8 from a actual Ford exploder and the housing is machined different. I've looked at it and I don't see any visual differents from a mazda to a ford
if this is true can somebody please explain or if not true I wanna show him this thread to shut him up lol Also I have a 2000 mazda 4x4 pick up with a 8.8 would that be better or is the width shorter?

If you want the correct answer do a Google search. I think the Mazda Navajo and the Explorer are the same, but I do not know for certain. The Mazda truck and the Ranger I think are the same, if they are the Mazda trucks axle is not the same as an Explorer 8.8 axle.

I'm gonna rip it apart tonight I'll get pics. I'm pretty sure it's better than the 27 spline 8.25 I'm running. The axle tubes are waaay bigger than whats sitting under my jeep right now

The navajo should be the same as the explorer rear. All they change is exterior pieces. Drivetrain, electrical, interior and such are all the same.

Thats what I thought. Why would mazda make their own rear when they could use the same one thats in the exploder My buddy was arguing with me about them saying they are totally different vehicles and every part is different when I know they share the same motors and drive trains.
