I would do it on mine just to be on the safe side though.
I watched a YJ spin the tubes on the rock garden at Old Chinman's Gulch (Colorado). He wasn't pounding on his rig, just crawling over some rocks.

The center section ended up pointing up at about a 50-60 deg Angle. We did some temp repair so he could limp off the trail.

I'll never let a Ford 8.8 leave my shop without the tubes welded to the center section...ever.

Im done with the 35 2 axle seals in 4 weeks im fricken done just got home from wrecking yard . 53 dollars and an hours time me pulling it for a complete down to the parking brake cables assembly. I got 3.55s just to expedite the swap I have a free to me complete 8.8 with 4.10s later when my xj is not my daily. Getting goodies from iron rock to swap it in, aussie locker and do it.
I will take ya'lls advice and get the tubes welded. I never had issue with my little 5.0 mustang spinning the housing on slicks and many a trans brake launch but, ive had the jeep in some rocky stuff and dont want any issue.

Edit: ordering install kit from serious off road that kit is a better deal for me I don't want a truss just the basics to install . I weld so this is a no brainer .
