Well, that sounds a little better then piston slap. Could I just get a bearing kit and do that instead of a full on rebuid? Or heavier oil?

Heavier oil won't do anything for you, sorry I'm not sure what bits you'd need to fix it exactly. Is it a daily driver or can you take it apart to see what the actual problem is?

It's a daily driver, mostly anyway. I work every other day. I've gotta do an oil change soon and replace the pan gasket, so I'm gonna see if the rod is loose on the crankshaft, which would be bad bearings, right? Might as well do the RMS while I'm in there so I don't have to later....Hopefully

Since your in there to replace the oil pan gasket inspecting the bearing is a piece of cake. If your lucky (big if) the journal may be ok and you can replace the insert. Good luck and give us an update.

Well, I'm hoping that's what it is. Seems easy enough to fix, as long as everything else is okay. I did some looking around and found rod bearings on jeep4x4center.com. In the link, they start at part number 18 and down, going up in oversizes. Any particular size I'd probably want, because I'm thinking .020 would be okay. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-en...2.5L-150-a.htm

Almost forgot, what do you mean by the journals? Are they on the crank or block? And also, if I do need to replace them, would it be easier to do it in the vehice or pull the engine out, take the pistons out and do it that way? I don't think it would hurt to do the rings while I'm in there....Or any other parts that would probably need attention. It's got about 180,000 on it
