Did this to my 01 xj yesterday and it seems to shift a little more crisp. Definitely worth the 10 seconds it took to do it.

I feel for ya.... Took me 8 months to find my '97 Sport fully loaded (except fog lights) without a dent on it and 118k miles. Only thing, I hate the 3.07 with 31's....

Something I'll remember to look into next time I take the XJ out of storage for a little wheeling!

In the manual, there's more to adjusting the Throttle Valve cable than what was shown. You also have to get under the truck and get dirty. If you're going to do something, at least do the whole job.

I'm in Mich. on a borrowed lap-top while visiting family, and can't access my files in Tenn. If I can find the info on-line I'll post it on here. I can't recall the details, but there are things you need to do from underneath as well as the mentioned cable-end adjustment. Maybe someone will post the info before I can try and find it.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but it actually helped out. I wish I had done this quite some time ago.

Yes. it basically adjusts the trans to better compensate for where the pedal is, when you step on it the trans will downshift, and it will stay in gear better and not go from 3rd to 4th for a few seconds then drop back to 3rd. Awesome free fix
