i have a nice manifold but i want to build the down tube to the tailpipe. but the issue is i havent found 2 things that i like. 1. the downtube. 2. the highflow cat. are there any that are better than others? id like a bolt in cat, but if it isnt i'll live.
suggestions?

um, a little advice dont use a cat.. instant hp gain.. just use pipe all the way down to the muffler no cat.. as for the torque tube (down tube), they dont sell any aftermarket variations, because its a tight squeeze. your possibilities are endless

C'mon Kid, thats an irresponsible way to gain a few HP. Listen to your pop.

Or trade the XJ in on a Supra or something if ya got the need for speed bug.

Anthony. I run a Magnaflow cat. You can pick one up from summit racing for ~$100.

REMOVING A CAT IS A FEDERAL CRIME, with that said my cat was ripped off on a trail and currently have a pipe in its place, since that has happened I now have 3 burned exhaust valves. When I install my new stroker engine I will be putting another Products for Power cat back on(only a much smaller diameter).
On my XJ I have a Borla full length header with a 2.5" down pipe and full 2.5" exhaust, Flowmaster 40 series muffler and tailpipe is from Rusty's. Sounds good too.

i say get a nice header and muffler and cat, and then have an exhaust shop custom bend the pipes and hook it all up.

WELL TAKING THE CAT OFF ISNT AN OPTION, I LIVE IN SMOGONIA, CALI. opps caps. overland i looked at that one, i think i may use that cat and just a nice catback system. theres really nothing wrong with my downtube but i didnt know if there was a better one out there.
thanks guys, im on this.

Anthony, i run the Dynamax catback behind it.(also available @ summit) I ran the Flowmaster last time, it got old...or i did. The droning got on my nerves.

That and the fact when i'm in the backcountry, wildlife viewing is a bonus with the scenery... i saw no point in being loud enough to run that pleasure off.

Oh, and on the Dynamax... i just found out friday i had a bad muffler after 16 months. Called the vendor i bought it from and a replacement is on it's way. I was surprised the warranty was still good.

I keep using my factory downpipe. I have read others dont quite fit as well.

I would say, get a good local shop to build you a custom downpipe that has a 2.5" outlet with a flange on it, so you can just bolt up a cat, unless you want to use a clamp. Then after the cat, just run straight pipe as far back as you want. Cat-back systems are overpriced in my opinion. go with the same thing with that as with the downpipe. Have the exhaust shop make it, just make sure they use a mandrel bender.
