Front brake pad guide rails worn 93 JGC
I have a 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 160k miles. The front brake disk pad guide rails have little grooves where the pads rest and "glide". I have replaced the pads many times and there where never any anti rattle clips. I found some clips that go on the pads from RockAuto but was looking for some clips that will go over the guide rails to cover those grooves. Without them the pads tend to get stuck or worse rattle in those grooves.
I have seen such a set of clips for Fords where they have a clip for the guide and another for the pad.
Anyone have this problem and has found a clip from another vehicle that will fit these guild rails? OR another idea for solving this problem?
Thanks

I did that somewhat with a file..probable easier with a dremel tool or something like that. I just saw a ford with clips on the guides AND the pads and thought how much sense that makes....they wear out and the guides stay fine.
One of those engineering things that someone forgot about. Probable figured no one would keep a car 20+ years.
Thanks

It is strange they put them right against bare metal.
I filed mine down, hit it with some decent smooth sandpaper to smooth it down well enough. Some brake grease, and it has been good for 1000 miles already!

I am thinking of using some JB weld to fill in the groove and then file that so I do not loose all the other metal part of the glide. Will let you know if it sticks. That stuff is pretty amazing.

A welding shop ought to be able to add some metal to the area, then you could grind/file it back to specs. My solution wasn't cheap, but since I was redoing the entire front suspension/brakes anyway at 250K, I just replaced the entire steering knuckle both sides.
