it is part of the vacuum system. without it you dont have any AC vents it all blows thru the defrosters

Are you guys sure about the no cent thing. I removed my bumper and that ball was disconnected but my vents still work. So does my cruise. I couldn't find the other end of the line so I guess it could be plugged or re routed. Just saying

You can hook it back up if its disconnected. Or move it into the engine bay. I always plan on spending twice as much whenever I do anything to mine. lol

Exclamation Vacuum reservoir

Vacuum reservoir for A/C and cruise control, etc. You can get another in any junk yard. It does not have to be the same size or shape and you can relocate it anywhere in the engine compartment. The new canister does not even have to come from a Jeep!

I have a 96 XJ and when my line got a hole in it my vents and cruise would not work. I fixed the line and all was well again.

Defrost is the default mode if there is a vacuum leak in the system.

I think you can just cap off the hose to reseal the vacuum and it will let the vents work again, no vac tube necessary.
