Front Door leaking....help
So I've been working on my 92 Cherokee for about a month now and it's shaping up real good but the one thing that I can't seem to fix so far in the front drivers side door. Whenever it rains the door takes in water. There was a gab at the top corner of the door that was clearly not making contact with the weather stripping. I did find out from the previous (and only) owner that the keys were locked in the car once and they had to use one of those inflatable pads to wedge the door open slightly and unlock it. I had that fixed and the door no longer leakes from there but there is still a leak from inside the door. I already had the panel off so I can see that it seems to be mainly coming in from above the speaker and slightly from the rest of the window area. I tried replacing the weather stripping that sits between the outside and the window but it is still leaking by the speaker. What else can this be and what can I do to fix it?

Check your hinges. They sometimes crack and loosen from the body or door and your door will drop just a tad preventing the door-seals from doing their job. Try replacing the hinge-pins. Had the same problem on a mustang and the hinge-pins were worn. Fixed the issue for me.

The door hinges are fine. The water isn't coming in from the sides of the door but into the door itself. After a rain I get about 2" of water inside the bottom of the door.

Are your window glass seals, old and weather cracked. They will let rain inside the door. And eventually rust them from the inside out. First, Drill a couple of holes (straight up) in the door bottom. There is drain holes all ready there, but they plug up, from rust & undercoating. It doesn't hurt to have a couple more. Second, Replace the seals. They come out easily. And snap back in. Here is one site for seals, you can shop around but this is the cheapest I've found. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/outer-g...-55135206.html

Like said above replace the door and window seals and clean out the drain holes at the bottom of the door. If you do drill more holes Make sure to seal the metal or that will start to rust really quick.
