Hey all, so my 1990 Cherokee laredo w/ 230,000 miles, 3.5" short arm lift and 31's has developed this slight clunking noise/shutter in the front end it seems like. So the problem is when i take off from a stop, I can hear a clunking noise (with ease inside the cab) and it seems like its coming from the front passenger side and it seems like it goes with the rotation of the tires. Also, i can feel it shutter a little, like the tire is wobbling or something, but its not, and the sound and shutter go away after i speed up. I stuck my head out the window while coasting slowly and could hear a small metallic clunking noise or something.
But first I have to make two points:
1. one mechanic check it out and said i need new ball joints, and a tie rod end, and probably front axle u-joints. So of course because of the quote he gave me i got a second opinion. The second guy I took it to said i dont need new ball joints yet but I did need new u joints and tie rod end (the TRE that is the bar and everything).
2. I changed both from axle u-joints myself, and in the process replaced the passenger side wheel hub assembly (drivers side was done only months ago) And the problem still persists. I also changed the front diff fluid and t-case fluid, but have not yet replaced tie rod end. My steering is a pretty sloppy too, if that has anything to do with it.
-My thoughts is that it could have something to do with the brakes/calipers, or an upper control arm which are stock or a bad bushing, i also found out that whenever i go over a bump i hear a squeak which I thought was coming from my springs but is actually coming from my sway bar/sway bar bushing.
What is everyones thoughts? its driving me nuts!
