front end problem/ starting problem?
Hey Cherokee forum, So I got a 96 cherokee classic, with 194xxx right now, in february of this year and I've had a few quirks with it so far.... Haven't really done too much to it. I was having a starting issue where it would crank and crank, but wouldn't fire up. So my mechanic replaced the fuel pump... All has been well for the most part. However, sometimes this starting issue still occurs, but I have learned while pumping the gas pedal and cranking it at the same time it'll usually fire up after a couple tries. I'll usually have to hold my foot on the gas for a minute to keep it running or it'll die out... After that it's fine for the most part. Any ideas on what this could be?? I was thinking maybe idle position/control sensor/ valve??
Then my other problem... I was driving today and going around a kinda sharp right hand turn about 30-35 mph the steering wheel kinda made a jerk back to the left... Felt as though the wheel was going to flop over... So I jacked it up when I got home and I don't see any broken or really worn front end parts... I tilted the front wheels from 6-12 o'clock and they feel tight in that direction. So is wheel bearing out for a possibility? Then I turned the wheels all the way both directions, left and right, and rotated them.. They spin freely, but I was turning them back and forth, forward reverse just a bit I could feel a kinda click in the axle shaft u joint... Think that could be the culprit??
Sorry for being so longwinded, just wanted to put as much info out there as I could... Thanks for the help!!
BTW everything is stock... no lifts or mods or anything really.

For the running issue sounds like a dirty Idle air control valve. Do seach on cleaning the IAC.
As for the other issue, I have felt that b4, when it was raining, at lower speeds when the tires were near bald. Its the tires slipping. Dont know if that is your case or not, if it you were taking the corner like a racer it could of been a tire sliding on the front...
Haves someone yank the wheel back and forth while you check for play. Pay attention expeically to the track bar.
