Where did you get the tail light guards? I've looked all over for them but can only find ones for stinkin grand cherokees.
I also plan to get started on some bumpers sometime soon. And frame stiffeners. and rock sliders. and skid plates. Hmmm, winter might not be long enough..... Its gonna take some time, but I'm gonna kinda go off of this bumper:

If anyone in CO likes to fab and needs a project in their spare time, I could use a rear bumper (will pay you for parts & supplies). PM me if you're interested.

i found a monkey mig at harbour freight for $150. all you need after this is a helmet and a slag hammer. maybe a wire brush and gloves for your panzy hands. find a metal supplier and you have it made.
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=94056
plus you can get a 4&1/2 " angle grinder for $20.

Don't waste your time with a welder from HF. You won't be happy with it and the dan things don't last.
Keep in mind that your bumpers will most likely be your recovery points. Imagine the bumpers coming apart because of poor welds the first time you get tugged or use a winch with one.
Use a quality welder and practice with it (a lot!!) before you build.

x2, welding is not something you become good at in one day.
Do you guys unhook the battery before you weld on a vehicle? My dad always told me to unhook the battery or alternator because he thinks with all those amps running through the frame you could fry something. But if you have a good ground I would think it shouldn't hurt anything.

thats kinda what im doing. i look at not whats popular but what is more functional, not saying your trying to be popular. but alot of the bumpers out there i dont like for one reason or another and i am damn cheap. if i can get it done myself, im going to do it. plus if i fudge it up, i only have me to blame. but if its right, i can brag til the cows come home.
i used to have friends who bought all there upgrades. and then said there truck was "Custom". i told em BULL $H!T to their faces. all they did was throw money at their rigs and someone elses ideas stuck. F*** that. i want to be able to take credit for the hard work it takes to design, build and install, not the hard work of ordering online, wait 4 weeks for delivery, then have a shop install it.
granted, some things i cant do myself because of know how, technical expertise, and the like. but everything else...IS MINE!!

this is my rear bumper that i made while i was 17. the tire carrier was a little tricky to make, but i figured out what i wanted to do with it. there are also d-ring tabs on the bumper that you cannot see because the whole thing is black. all in all i love that bumper. it has been hit by my buddies trucks alot and never a dent.
